First Day of School

Today Jakob FINALLY got to start school. I say finally because they were suppose to start on Monday, but with the weather they were afraid to risk it. So we got the go ahead to start today. He looks so handsome in his uniform! He was really excited to have "special clothes" just for school. Now lets pray that he doesn't tear them apart too quickly. Once we got there he got a little upset at me because, "Mommy I KNOW where my class is, you don't have to walk with me!" Needless to say I had to take a deep breath and hold back a tear at how grown up my little man is. But I still walked him in anyways, I mean come on, I HAD to help him carry his school supplies in to his teacher!

Hazel and I had a pretty ok day without brother, thankfully his school day is not as long as it use to be so I am able to pick him up a full hour and a half earlier than last year! WaaaHoooo! He seems to like his teacher and has let anyone know who's called that he will make sure that his monkey on the behavior tree will always play in the green leaves and not on the trunk so that he can get a prize from the treasure chest! Don't know how a treasure chest fits in with a Jungle theme but hey, anything to ge the kids to stay on target right?

More of Jakob's "Friends"

Along with the abundance of frogs and lizards in our back yard, Jakob has dicovered the world of the snail! He made me promise to show everyone his latest friend and how he was taking care of him and feeding him. I think we may have a future Steve Irwin on our hands! I can't wait to see his reaction to the Alligator Farm that we are planning to visit when Mike gets home! Oh and I threw in a picture of Hazel for good measure! Notice my feeble attempt at drying my clothes outside without a clothes line. Yeah they went straight back inside...

Exploiting Child Labor

Well the major pain throughout this tropical weather and Mike being gone is that my washing machine has finally died! Well its at least comatose until Mike gets home and officially declairs it dead. Since I have a HUGE fear of Laundry Matts and and equally huge laundry monster to deal with, we spent the morning yesterday learning what it would be like to wash clothes the "old fashioned" way. I let each of the kids play my "aggitator" in their own special way. Hazel loved throwing the clothes around until the water got too cold and Jakob enjoyed pushing them around with our mop handle for all of 2 minutes before he said, "Mike needs to hurry up and come home and fix our washing machine, my arms are tired!" Oh the pleasures of modern appliances! Happy washing!

Tropical Storm Fay

So I know everyone was worried Monday when we got "hit" with Tropical Storm Fay. I was really suprised at how nothing this storm was. I did put up some of our Hurricane shutters just to be on the safe side but in the end it was just a rain storm. The kids had fun playing out in the rain (no there was no thunder) and Hazel perfected her phone skills as pictured below. She still doesn't like to actually talk to anyone but will grab anything and hold it to her ear and say, "yeah, yeah, yeah oh Hi!" Its so funny! So no one worry we are all in one piece down here enjoying the rain and sun!

Painting Playdate

We have been so blessed to find this Mommy and Me Playgroup! This is a wonderful group of mom's and we just have so much fun playign with our kids and having other adults to talk to. This past Friday we went to a local park and painted! The kids had a ball just doing their own thing and chasing after the ducks! Hazel had her chips stolen from her by the ducks which she thought was hilarious at first....until she actually wanted to eat one! Afterwards she decided it was much more fun to paint her legs... Orange! Jakob did a wonderful job of painting a picture of Dora with flowers. He was a little obsessed about making sure her colors were right, my little perfectionist!

The Frogs

So we have the biggest frogs I have ever seen right here in our back yard! Jakob is in heaven playing with a new friend everyday. Of course we let them got back to their mommies and daddies once we are done so that they will come back to play with us again. And so that this mommy doesn't end up with a bunch of extra "family members" in the house. LOL The second picture is of Hazel playing with the frog and trying to pinch his head off!

More Fun Times In Florida

Well, We are having an absolute ball down here! Life is finally starting to settle down into a routine. Here are a few pictures I have taken over the past few weeks to share the fun we have had. I also tried to post a video (It wouldn't work) of Jakob reading to Hazel. He is doing so well I am so very proud of him
